News - GRAMON SCHOOL/GLENVIEW ACADEMY HOST ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS

FAIRFIELD, NJ (March 28, 2008) – The Gramon School and Glenview Academy hosted their annual Festival of the Arts today in Fairfield. Over 50 special education professionals from local school districts attended the workshop presented by Ruth Campbell, MSW, LCSW, from the International Institute of New Jersey. The free seminar provided techniques that educators can use when working with diverse students and their families and included two Continuing Education (CE) credits. The Festival also showcased artwork produced by students throughout the school year.

“This is an important opportunity for special services professionals throughout the region to learn new skills they can readily apply to help students in their own districts,” said David Weeks, Director of the Gramon School.“The Festival of Arts is also a great learning opportunity for our students because they bring together a school-wide display of their art and other projects for families, community members and workshop participants to view.”

The Gramon School, founded in 1939, is a state-approved high school for students ages 12 to 21 who require individual attention and learning programs to achieve success. Gramon students typically need support for emotional, behavioral and/or academic difficulties. At the Gramon School, students are provided with a structured and supportive environment in a traditional high school culture to help foster academic, social and emotional growth.

Glenview Academy, part of the Gramon Family of Schools, serves boys and girls ages five to 12 who have educational disabilities that public schools cannot adequately address. The Academy maintains a supportive school environment in which faculty—utilizing state-of-the-art technology and techniques—help students gain the skills, confidence, pride and initiative to become effective, contributing members of society.
